Hospice Care by Mitigare offers care to the person and their family facing a terminal illness. The service includes medical care including pain and symptom control. We offer psycho-social support as well as spiritual care when appropriate. Mitigare’s team includes the medical director, hospice doctor, nurses, tanotologists and a chaplain. Mitigare has durable medical equipment that can be delivered to the home to provide comfort to the patient and the caregivers.

MEDICAL CARE: Hospice Care by Mitigare has a Mexican certified palliative care physician who is able to address pain and symptoms with alternatives to assure that the patient remains comfortable and alert to maximize their time with familiy and friends.
The medical team is trained to know the course of many diseases so that potential issues can be anticipated and resolved as they occur. End of life care is a medical specialty.

The Hospice Social Worker helps logistically and also conducts a family needs analysis to determine if a patient can receive financial assistance from the Mitigare Patient Assistance Fund.
SPIRITUAL CARE: Mitigare has a non-denominational chaplain available to the patient and members of the family.
Mitigare respects and honors individual’s spiritual choices and we work to incorporate your spiritual values into the weekly care plan.
INTEGRATED CARE: A integrated team including the hospice doctors, nurses, tanotologists and others coordinate their activities weekly to develop an individual care plan for each patient. That plan often includes interventions to family members and caregivers.
Hospice is distinguished by this team approach and this is why the hospice philosophy is universally successful.
SPECIAL SERVICES: Mitigare has professional support such as nutricionist and masage and occupational therapists in those cases where those services are needed.
BEREAVEMENT SERVICES: Mitigare’s thanatologist has weekly group support groups available to everyone in the San Miguel Community. Individual therapy and consultations are available upon request.
CAREGIVER TRAINING: Many families choose to do the caregiving but are not sure how to do the daily activities. Mitigare can send someone who can advise you and teach you how to do these activities including feeding, bathing, moving and lifting and so forth.
